About this blog

We write articles mainly about visitor management, which helps you to know who is (or has been) in your facility. It is just part of an organization’s physical security processes that protect people and property within and around a building or campus.

Tardy Slips -- the perfect tool Schools use to document late students

by Paul Kazlauskas

Tardy students are a major problem for schools across the country. Some teachers report that the first four to eight minutes of class is almost a waste of time as students straggle in. Not only do students lose valuable educational instruction when they arrive late, but they disrupt the educational environment and distract others who are in the class. In addition, when late students are unsupervised in hallways and restrooms, there is ample opportunity for misconduct.

We make Tardy Slips that help schools track late arrivals quickly and easily. Here is some background on this special sign-in product and answers to the most frequently asked questions about it.

Tardy Slips, document late students easily, student management

How do Tardy Slips work?
Tardy Slips are two-part carbonless forms that perform two jobs in one step -- the white first part is perforated, so a pass can be torn out to admit students, while the yellow second part provides an automatic duplicate record. The student has a physical pass to get back into class or to show a hall monitor. The duplicate log gives the school a permanent record of all tardy students, by date, and for what reason.

Are Tardy Slips confidential?
Tardy Slips are not confidential like our books of self-adhesive visitor badges, whose label liner covers the duplicate sheet (for office use). With Tardy Slips, the entire slip tears out and is given to the student, so there isn’t a liner to cover the duplicate record. Fortunately, there isn’t much of a need for confidentiality because the Tardy Slip should be filled out by office personnel and handed to the student.

How customizable are Tardy Slips?
Tardy Slips can be printed with your school name and/or school mascot in black ink for no additional charge. If you would like any text in color, it will cost $10 extra per book. In addition, the title of the slip doesn’t have to say “Tardy Slip”. It may say “Admit Slip”, “Hall Pass” or any title that fits your school security protocol (in black ink for no additional cost). See all that is possible when you customize your Tardy Slip.

What makes a Tardy Slip "stock"?
It's a budget-friendly edition of our Tardy Slip. It's the same great system, giving you a Tardy Slip and a sign-in log in one writing. The difference is it's not custom printed. We don't have to specially print your name on it, so we don't charge as much.

How many sign-in entries per book?
There are 400 slips per 8 1/2” x 11” wirebound book (8 slips per page, 50 pages per book).

What is the exact size of a Tardy Slip?
The Tardy Slips measure 3 3/4" x 2 3/4".

How much does a Tardy Slip Book cost?
The price is $31 per book with a school name imprint and/or mascot printed in black (considered “custom”) and $24 per book without a school name imprint and mascot (considered “stock”). There is a minimum two-book purchase required.
